PHP in the Community

Locally Managed, Community Focused

Did you know PHP is a not-for-profit health insurance company? With this, comes a true commitment to improving the quality of life in the communities we serve. A core value at PHP is community. And we put our money where our mouth is. In the last year, PHP gave nearly $1 million across 150 different charitable organizations!

Our staff also contributes by giving of their time and talent. Through board and committee service, volunteer hours, and supply and collection drives, PHP employees are impacting our community for the better.

Headquartered in Indiana, PHP has a unique view of health and wellness, as well as the opportunity to engage members and families through our insurance products. Living and working in the same region as our members allows us to connect on a personal level, making sure healthcare decisions positively impact the communities we serve. More so than ever, we are uniquely qualified and prepared to advance the health and well-being of area businesses and their employees as a trusted, local resource.

Charitable Giving & Volunteering

PHP is dedicated to building healthier communities by addressing the health and wellness needs of low-income, high risk individuals in the neighborhoods we serve.

We routinely receive requests for support of not-for-profit organizations, private agencies and/or public charities in the Indiana and Ohio counties that we serve. This support, totaling over $250,000 each year, has helped fill voids in community needs.

PHP charitable contributions and staff volunteering have offered broad social benefits to organizations including Matthew 25, Neighborhood Health Clinics, Super Shot, Inc., Maple City Health Care Center, LOGAN, and others. In addition, more than a million lives have been improved through enhanced access to medical and dental education, treatment, medications, and more; most often reaching low income, disadvantaged, medically and emotionally challenged individuals.

Academic Scholarships

After 30 years of supporting local students pursuing careers in healthcare, the 2025-26 academic year marked the final year of the PHP Scholarship Program. We are incredibly proud of the program’s legacy, which includes nearly 100 students receiving more than $180,000 in scholarships to support their education and aspirations in healthcare. We extend our sincere gratitude to every student, school, and community partner who helped make the PHP Scholarship Program so meaningful over the past three decades.
