managing work stress could lower heart risks

A 12-year study found that government employees younger than age 50 who were the most stressed at work were 68% more likely than their less-stressed colleagues to suffer a heart attack. Stress discourages healthy behaviors such as eating fruits and vegetables and exercising. It also interferes directly with your heart’s healthy rhythm.

IN KIDS, LESS SLEEP MAY MEAN MORE WEIGHT

Sixth-graders who sleep longer are much less likely to be overweight than their peers who sleep less. Researchers are still trying to explain the link, but some suspect that sleep deprivation can affect carbohydrate metabolism and glucose tolerance. To make sure your children get their ZZZs, enforce age-appropriate bedtimes.
