Physicians Health Plan of Northern Indiana, Inc.
Freedom to Choose. As a not-for-profit and physician governed
organization, Physicians Health Plan focuses on supporting the
patient/physician relationship for better health. We provide our members open
access to over 2,000 network providers including doctors, dentists, hospitals
and medical facilities. This means our members choose the healthcare provider
they want to see, from Primary Care to Specialists, without any special
arrangements through the Plan.
Customer Satisfaction. PHP has earned a reputation for outstanding
customer satisfaction among employers, employees, and their families. PHP
members are more satisfied with their overall healthcare and health plan than
the average national consumers surveyed. This shows that employers, employees,
and their dependents can expect and will receive high quality service from PHP.
Our goal is to simplify the otherwise complex issues of healthcare

Preventive Healthcare. Our members benefit through coverage of
tests and screenings, various discounts, and educational literature. Coverage
includes mammograms, paps, immunizations, well baby care, colorectal and
prostate screenings, and much more. Discounts are available at organizations

nearly twenty-five years, Physicians Health Plan of Northern Indiana, Inc. has

TheStreet.com Rating. Since 1993, PHP has received a "good" or
"excellent" TheStreet.com rating; formerly known as the Weiss Safety Rating.
Our current rating is "Excellent" financial strength. TheStreet.com
places PHP in the top 20% of the industry nationwide, an elite group of 100
health insurance companies receiving an "Excellent" rating.
A.M. Best Rating. A.M. Best's Ratings are recognized worldwide as a

Responsible Community Partners. Providing information, financial
resources and assistance to the community is important and has a positive
effect on everyone's health. Through PHP, local doctors created the PHP
Foundation to support non-profit health-related organizations. This foundation
donates over $400,000 annually to serve low-income, high-risk,
medically-underserved, and elderly persons in Northern Indiana. In addition, we
sponsor numerous community charity events and activities throughout Northern
Indiana, providing not only financial resources but staff volunteers.

Physicians Health Plan Member Satisfaction
PHP surveys a randomly selected percentage of our membership on an annual basis
to assess our customers' overall satisfaction. Some examples of the questions
are how satisfied the consumer is with access to medical care, ease of choosing
a personal physician, the range of services covered, and the member's overall
satisfaction with their PHP coverage.
Results of the survey are used to assist us in determining areas where we can
improve. Below is a summary of the responses from the July 2004 survey
conducted by The Myers Group. The percentages below reflect the number of PHP
members who responded that the healthcare and services received from PHP and
our participating providers were either excellent or very good.
The findings compare responses from PHP members to the National Committee for
Quality Assurance (NCQA) average during the same time period from other health
plan members nation wide.
